| ABOUT THE SERIES: The graphic designs in "Seaplanes and Citrus" pay a whimsical homage to the product labeling and travel and event posters of the early to mid 20th century. The visual inspirations for the series span the late Victorian, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and Streamline Moderne art periods. The premise for "Seaplanes and Citrus" is simple: Steve starts with his photos of recognizable local landmarks (at this point, primarily areas of Lake County in Central Florida), then combines them with an odd assortment of fictitious products, services, or events produced by an odd assortment of fictitious companies or organizations. The final designs are, as you would imagine, a humorous and eclectic assortment of vintage travel posters, product labels and advertisments that are fake, but look realistic enough to appear authentic. |
